Janko Tipsarevic and Sam Querrey made it to the Paris Masters 2012 quarters after seeing off Monaco and Raonic respectively.

Both eight-seeded Serb Tipsarevic and ninth seed Juan Monaco of Argentine had their ups and downs during the three-set third round clash in Paris. The athletes were producing solid service games throughout the encounter with a minimum of gifted break point chances. The first one came in the sixth game of the opener – Tipsarevic made a good use of it, broke Monaco and served out the set with a hold to love. The second set was the copy of the previous one, yet this time it was the Argentine who seized a sixth-game break and made it one set a piece few games later.

The pattern was repeated in the decider as well as this year’s Stuttgart champion Tipsarevic converted a single break point of the set to move 4-2 up. Monaco, who has obtained four ATP trophies in 2012, did not give up a fight until conceding an unforced error after a long exchange at 15-15 in the last game. That point has obviously broken his spirit and the Serb was delighted to wrap the clash up with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory. His quarterfinal opponent is the biggest surprise of the week, Pole Jerzy Janowicz who eliminated Brit Murray in three sets.

The second highest ranked US player Querrey confirmed his great triumph over Djokovic by beating fourteenth seed Milos Raonic in straight sets. He made it through the match without offering his rival any break point opportunities. The opening set was tied until the American grabbed the only break of the match for a 5-3 lead. No response from Raonic as Querrey held his serve to go one set up. Aside from a break point scare the Canadian had to overcome early in the set number two, the service games were won confidently, so a tie-break was required. As it turned out, the thirteenth game would be all about Los Angeles 2012 conqueror Querrey who had five match points at his disposal at 6-1. He wasted no time and booked his quarter-final ticket in first attempt with a 6-3, 7-6 (1) final result. The American, who won the battle of aces by 12 to 10, will face Michael Llodra next.
