Jurgen Melzer withdraws in first round of Kuala Lumpur, Baker also out

tennis predictions

Ex Austria’s top ten Jurgen Melzer had to retire from the Malaysian Open today due to a thigh strain in the middle of his match against Canadian Vasek Pospisil.

The young Canadian used his powerful service and rallied to take the first set 6-4. In the second part of the match, Melzer started to limp off and after he conceded an early break, he noticed that it would be impossible for him to play on without feeling any pain, so he decided to withdraw when he was down 4-6  0-2.

Pospisil will face American Michael Yani (ATP No 238) next, who upset countryman Brian Baker 6-3  7-6 (4). Baker made a big comeback in the season after 7 years of absence but today he looked just a bit weak against Yani as he lost his serve three times.
