Querrey and Dolgopolov advance into last 8 in Washington

Eighth seed Sam Querrey of the USA progressed to the Quarter Finals of the ATP Citi Open in Washington with a comfortable win against Germany’s Benjamin Becker. The American who had battled through the first round against Russia’s Igor Andreev 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 was able to see off the challenge of Becker winning 6-4, 6-3. Querrey will now face third seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa who dispatched Frenchman Florent Serra. Anderson had comfortably beat Jurgen Zopp of Estonia in the first round 6-3, 6-2 and was able to make it to the last eight without dropping a set by beating Serra 6-4, 6-4. The other Quarter Finals will be competed between Germany’s fourth seed Tommy Haas who faces fellow countryman Tobias Kamke and second seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine who will meet American James Blake.
