Roko Karanusic of Croatia jumps out into the lead after qualifying and reaching the semifinals in Belgrade. Karanusic has gotten off to a very fast start in 2003, reaching the semifinals in Germany F1a, winning Germany F1b, and again reaching the semifinals of Germany F1c. In that time he has raised his ranking from #446 to #301. Young German, Markus Bayer, got in a good 7 matches last week, qualifying for and reaching the quarterfinals of the second week of Australia #1. Also breaking into the top 10 is Kevin Kim who reached the finals in the Joplin challenger.
Agassi still remains on top here at 7-0 but Mike Scheidweiler of Luxembourg joins the undefeated club with a win in his first tourmament of the year, Portugal F1. There were also some players who went through Davis Cup unscathed. Down in Group III and Group IV competition, players can play up to 4 or 5 matches the round robin format. A couple of Hungarian's made their first appearance of the year, Kornel Bardoczky and Gergely Kisgyorgy went a perfect 4-0 as did young Algerian Lamine Ouahab.
